Research Professor of Neurobiology

I am currently in a state of "semiretirement". I have closed my laboratory, but continue to work full time in teaching and outreach activities. I continue to serve as a tutor and lecturer in the course for second-year Harvard medical students: "Human Nervous System and Behavior". With several colleagues we will, for the third year, give a neuroscience course ("The Principles of Neurobiology") at Morehouse College in Atlanta during the spring semester.
During the summer, we plan to continue our program for Native American high school students, contingent on funding. This consists of two three-week sessions for students, and some of their teachers, from four different native communities. The purpose of the program is to enlarge the pipeline - to increase the number of Native American students entering leading colleges and universities. The long-term aim is to increase the number of native graduates who can, directly or indirectly, use their professional skills in the service of their communities. I continue to work with Dean Joan Reede in some of the outreach programs that she directs.
